In the beginning, the book may feel a little slow and not very interesting, but as you continue reading, each chapter reveals a new side of Ove’s personality. It feels like peeling an onion- layer by layer you understand him better. At first he seems like a grumpy and strict old man who thinks the world has lost its values, but slowly you realize there is much more to him. His character makes you like him more with every chapter, and at times you even feel sympathy for him. The story becomes very touching when new neighbours move in and slowly become a part of his life. Through small moments of kindness, friendship, and community, the book shows how human connections can heal loneliness.
