"Every choice, every decision you’ve ever made and will ever make, creates a new universe. A new world. A new you."
I first read Dark Matter in 2021 and just finished reading it again recently. I had to share my thoughts on it! It's a must-read for anyone who enjoys sci-fi thrillers.
Since I have a science background, I found it easier to understand, but even if you're not into science, this book is still great if you’re interested in parallel universes/alternate realities. If you’ve seen Interstellar, you’ll enjoy this book too!
Blake Crouch wrote an amazing, mind-blowing story that keeps you hooked until the very end. And even after you finish, it’ll make you think for days or even months about the universe and how small we are in it. The twists in the story keep you turning the pages, and the writing is really engaging.
Dark Matter is a sci-fi thriller about identity, choice, and alternate realities. The story follows Jason Dessen, a physics professor who gets kidnapped and finds himself in a parallel universe where his life has turned out completely different. As Jason struggles to return to his real life, the book explores how every decision we make creates new possibilities and shapes the course of our lives.
The book makes you think about what defines us—our choices, our relationships, and the paths we take in life. The idea of the multiverse is key to the plot, but Crouch explains it in a way that’s easy to understand, without using technical jargons.
While it’s a science fiction story, it’s also very emotional. Jason’s love for his family and his determination to get back to them makes the story feel real and personal, not just about science.
Dark Matter is a thought-provoking novel that mixes mind-blowing science with deep emotions. It’s a fast read that will make you think about your own life and the choices you’ve made.
One of the most memorable quotes from the book:
"What’s the point of a life that is defined by a single moment?"
AS: Happy reading! 😀
